CULTURE CATALANE: Catalan Culture in Quebec

Culture.  Quebec, 30/11/2018

CULTURE CATALANE is an arts season, an action to raise the profile and promote all the Catalan cultural activity that will be taking place from September 2018 to July 2019 at different venues in the cities of Montreal and Quebec. And ... this time we’re coming to Saguenay!

During the 2018/2019 season, the Institut Ramon Llull will be collaborating with different venues and festivals in Canada such as the Festival International de la Littérature, the Agora de la Danse, the Casal de Catalunya in Montreal, the Quartiers Danses festival, the Regard Festival de Court Métrage and the Festival International des Arts de la Marionette in Saguenay.

The Institut Ramon Llull – a public body that promotes Catalan language and culture internationally – and the Institut Català de les Empreses Culturals (ICEC), through its internationally recognized brand name Catalan Arts, are working together with a delegation of Catalan programmers and artists in Cinars, M pour Montréal and Mondial Montréal, promoting the presence of Quebec in international markets.

CULTURE CATALANE is a program that encourages us to establish contacts with Canadian cultural interlocutors to achieve a  continual presence of Catalan artists in their programs; it encourages us to discover spaces for possible future collaboration and to update ties with the different international festivals and venues; to work on decentralization and to get to know other cities and venues in Quebec. We understand internationalization as a journey there and back that ought to lead to two-way exchange projects, with the creation of artistic residencies and with the presence of artists from Quebec in our theatres and festivals.
