Local Stories, Global Writers

Literature.  Barcelona, 29/04/2021

Are you tired of speed-reading the newest releases to find promising emerging authors with that spark of originality? We know the feeling. We're all victims of that famous phenomenon: the fear of missing out.

Set aside the scramble to find the latest hot new thing. Take a deep breath. There's no need to rush anymore. Let’s go back to the origins.

Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí, well known for his Sagrada Família in Barcelona, said that originality is a return to our origins. Being original means being able to return to the simplicity of early solutions.

We are thrilled to invite you to join us for a brief journey back to contemporary Catalan literature's origins, its 20th-century renaissance. This event will feature some of the best Catalan modern classics, still read and published in Catalonia and eagerly translated into many different languages. All of them have proved to be global writers telling local stories.

The event will include a conversation on the authors, combined with video capsules recorded by fellow publishers sharing their experiences publishing Catalan modern classics and turning them into their bestsellers. We will also present a brief decalogue of peculiarities of modern classical Catalan literature.

The event will take place in English and on Zoom. Click here to confirm your assistance.

Thursday April 29th

17.00 h CET (11:00am EST)

We look forward to seeing you there!
